Website Content Health Check

Your digital content has to do a lot of heavy lifting.

The task is the same, no matter the locale: turn attention into business value. But the way you get from A to B usually differs across cultures:

  • What signals trust in one culture does not necessarily work in another.
  • The strength of a brand does not travel automatically.
  • Most of the time cultural fit is more important than efficiency.
  • Ignoring norms and regulators easily leads to serious issues.

If your German content is rejected by the German market, that rejection is usually silent. Potential clients will not come running and complain; they will simply keep on browsing.

Some attention, however, is not as silent as you would like.
Specialist law firms ("Abmahnanwälte") are quick to notice details that create formal exposure, and under German law, that attention is rarely cost-neutral for the recipient.

What this check looks at

This check assesses where German readers are likely to misread or misjudge your content.

The focus is on failure modes, including:

  • register and tone that could erode authority
  • cultural friction points (over-claiming, vagueness, Anglicisms)
  • claims, promises, and implied guarantees that may invite scrutiny
  • structural signals that could undermine trust (headings, CTAs, microcopy)
  • message hierarchy: what German readers will assume is important
  • legal-adjacent details where the German market – and its regulators – are notoriously unforgiving

Each point is examined in terms of interpretation and consequence.

What you get out of it

What you get is clarity about where your German content stands and where it doesn’t.

Specifically:

  • a clear view of what already holds up and what needs changing
  • identified risk points, ranked by consequence, not by visibility
  • explanations of why certain passages invite misreading
  • guidance on what needs fixing now, what can wait, and what is not an issue

You'll know where intervention is necessary and where it isn't.

This allows you to:

  • act before issues have unwelcome consequences
  • avoid unnecessary rewrites
  • focus effort where it actually matters

What this is not

This check isn't a complete rewrite or redesign. And it doesn’t replace legal review where it is required.

The goal is practical: catch risks before they create consequences.

When this makes sense

This check is a good fit if you are:

  • preparing a German website or content section for launch
  • relaunching or restructuring existing German content
  • entering the German market

This assumes Germany is already a committed market. It is not exploratory or educational.
The result can inform internal decisions, or I can help address what surfaces.
